A go cart frame is usually made of tube steel or aluminum that are bent into shape and welded. Most go cart frames are custom made to fit the motor, drive train, axle type, plastics and wheels.

The best way to get a basic frame is to look on E-bay or local scrap yards. Most frames are manufactured by private parties. Consumer and commercial companies usually only sell the complete carts.

Extreme off road go carts usually require special features such as large knobby tires, pose rear, transmission, lights, winches, windshield, shocks, seat harness, and most important a roll cage. This is the reason most extreme go cart enthusiasts like to order plans and build their own. This way they can modify it to their specifications.
